When You Feel Alone

My Quiet Place

When You Feel Alone
Loneliness is an emotional feeling of isolation that is built on lies. Loneliness leads to moodiness, depression, hastiness, and unwise decisions. Someone leaves us. We experience great disappointment. Deep loneliness does not disappear even when we try to drown our sorrows away in a crowded room. Today I pray the Lord encourages the depressed, gives hope to the lonely, and joy to the single. I would like you to know and be transformed by this truth: "The love of Christ forces loneliness out of the lives of God's children" (Charles Stanley). Here are just a few of God's promises to His beloved children.

{ I will never leave you nor forsake you so we can confidently say the Lord is my helper, I will not fear. What can man do? Hebrews 13 }

 { Do not be frightened and do not be dismayed for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9 }
 ❤︎
{ I will be with you always even unto the very ends of the earth." Matthew 28:20 }
❤︎
{ Turn to me and be gracious to me for I am lonely and afflicted...The friendship of the Lord is for those who fear Him. Psalm 25 }
                                                                      ❤︎
{ Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. James 4:8 }
                                                                                ❤︎

 { Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever.  Hebrews 13 }

The only way to conquer loneliness is to enter into the Lord's presence. God is more than someone to believe in. Jesus died so that we can have a personal relationship with the Father. A relationship with the Lord is not like any earthly relationship. Even though we cannot see Him face to face, it is far far better. Jesus Christ is our friend. He offers us counsel through His Word. He listens to us. He speaks truth into our lives. He offers life and joy at His right hand. He gives us a new gifts every day. Draw near to Him in prayer. Ask Him to overwhelm you with His love. Admit you are lonely. Even the great men of the Bible like Paul and David experienced various forms of isolation, physically and emotionally. Find godly friends who will come along side you, listen to your problems, cry with you, and make you laugh. God made us to walk in this world with other people. While God is enough for us and the only one who can satisfy our longings, the church was formed so that brothers and sisters in Christ can build each other up in the Lord and bear each other's burdens.

Do not turn to entertainment, food, shopping, exercise, beauty, media, parties, boys, or friends to heal you from your hurts. When dealing with loneliness, we often try to make us feel better about ourselves by seeking compliments, changing our hair, or trying to loose weight. When circumstances or people leave us or disappoints us, we try to fill the empty place in our hearts with things other than the Lord. Loneliness and sorrow cripple us spiritually and emotionally. We develop trust issues. We believe the lies that no one truly cares about us. We put other things above God.

Despite how you feel, trust in what you know. What is true no matter what is found in the character and heart of God. We know His qualities through the promises of His word. God is the only person in your life who will never leave you. He loves you more than anyone ever could. Because he is never changing, you can always count on Him. He is faithful forever. I will leave you with this quote that I believe is the key to conquering loneliness. ❤︎

{ "Set not thine affections upon rusting, moth-eaten, decaying treasures, but set thine heart upon him who abides forever faithful to thee...Put thine all in Christ; set all thine affections on His person, all thy hope in His merit, all thy trust in His effiacious blood, all thy joy in His presence, and so thou mayest laugh at loss, and defy destruction...Trust all thy concerns with Him who will never leave thee, and who will never let thee leave Him." - Spurgeon }
